Hey y’all, it’s been a bit, sorry about that. Life gets crazy, but no fear! We have been doing plenty of adventuring, so many more posts will follow! Also, I’ll make up for my absence with a puppy photo because that fixes everything, right?
This seems like a while ago now, but we went to Grand Manan back in late October. It was definitely the down season, but it was gorgeous and not crowded. You shouldn’t be surprised, we brought our dog Harper and she loved it.
We took a beautiful (and chilly) ferry ride to the island.
So, we stayed in the cutest little cottage with this killer view right on the Marsh:
It was an adorable, quirky cottage on the Castalia Marsh Retreat. Check them out. So much fun.
The numero uno spot I would recommend going is the Swallow Tail Lighthouse.
It is very close to the ferry terminal, and just a short walk to the lighthouse from the parking area. When we were there, we were all alone for the majority of our time there (but then again, it was almost winter on a summer vacation island).
Waaay down on the other side on the island (about a 20 minute drive) is Southwest Head Lighthouse. The lighthouse here is gorgeous, but just to the right is a stunning cliff view. You can walk along a trail through the tall grass, and I swear, the ocean breeze running through your hair mixed with that view will take away any of your stresses and clear your mind. It’s the best therapy. Kyle had to drag me away, god love him.
There is also, of course, Seal Cove, which I’ve been told is one of the most photographed places on the island, and man, I can see why. I mean, just look for yourself:
There is a beautiful beach just down the road a bit that has a TON of beach glass. So crafters, go here. and bring buckets. and buckets.
The famous Hole-in-the Wall was also on our bucket list, and of course we had to stop in here. Again, not far from the ferry terminal, and really just up the road from Swallow Tail. This was another gorgeous, rocky, cliff-side view that had me swooning (and so so happy for my newly upgraded camera gear).
Overall, Grand Manan is a MUST if you are in the area. It’s worth the ferry ride, and I can only imagine how much better it would be if you could swim at all of those beaches to top off the amazing views. This one will require a return trip from us, maybe in the warmer weather.
Here are a few other of my fav pictures from the trip:
Also, a Harper approved outing.
