Any time I do a shoot, my goal is to capture true, candid moments. No posed, stiff ones. Sometimes, if a couple has not had a session before it can take a few minutes for them to feel comfortable in front of the camera. Little Joshua was like this, but he warmed up to the camera pretty quickly. Jerika and Mike seemed instantly comfortable though! They made capturing those candid moments so easy and fun. The best part? I get to capture their beautiful wedding day in a few short months!
Fun Fact: We got to do this shoot in the same place they will be getting married, at Le Pays de la Sagouine.

A few months ago, Kyle and I took a day adventure, which is something we haven’t done in far too long. I had been hearing about this place for a few months now, and I had been itching to get there. So, with Harper lazing around in the back seat, we set out.
There are some semi-steep walking paths, so I would recommend some good sneakers. I was wearing boots with bad traction and it wasn’t ideal.
Now that we are done with the How Tos, let me just say, it was absolutely stunning! With the trees, the cliffs, the ocean, and the lighthouse, it felt so truly and authentically New Brunswick.
I am picturing doing some amazing portraits here at sunset and am already drooling. Any takers?
This was also a Harper approved adventure.

Ashley, why do you post about your adventures and landscape photos on a portrait photography site? What cha doing there?
Maybe you've been thinking this question every time you see one of my adventure posts go up. At first glace, the only thing that seems to be related is that there's a camera involved in both, but there’s so much more!
I love photography. I first fell in love with portrait photography, and over the last year-ish, have fallen in love with landscape and adventure photography, too. At first, I thought the two of these things couldn’t be connected, that they were two separate fields of photography.
Recently I have realized that that is not even a little bit true. Through being inspired by some amazingly talented local photographers across our beautiful maritime provinces, I have come to realize that the two fields of photography mesh very comfortably together.
I have photographed wonderful, loving people and I have photographed beautiful, jaw-dropping landscapes. So, I thought: why shouldn’t I photograph those great people IN these stunning landscapes?
That is my very long winded way of saying that I write about my adventures on this site because I want to show all of you, potential, present, and past clients, what AMAZING locations New Brunswick, and the Maritimes in general, have to offer.
Whether you are looking for a portrait session in an amazing spot, or are just looking for somewhere cool to explore this weekend, that is why I am posting these. My ideal portrait session is with someone who loves being outside and exploring our great province as much as I do.
So, whether you are looking for a new spot to explore or are looking to make some great art with me, these adventure posts are for you :)
P.S. If you have a neat spot that you think I should check out, please let me know in the comments!
