GUYS I AM SO SO SO EXCITED RIGHT NOW. I have been planning this reveal for MONTHS now and I finally get to gush all about it!
I am opening up a whole new kind of portrait session and it involves some of the things I love the most and feel so very passionate about.
Now, before I start gushing, let me just say that this is in addition to my normal portrait sessions, not a replacement. I will still be doing (and loving) family, engagement, graduation, newborn, and any other kind of portrait session you can throw at me. This is just something I am adding to the options list (and man, oh man it’s a good one).
These sessions are built to make you feel like your best self. What I mean by that is that I want you to feel the way I feel when my dog looks at me after I’ve taken her on a long walk or played an intense game of fetch with her. Like I am the best person in the world. I want you to feel like the amazing, inspiring person that you are.
Take a second: picture the last time you felt like yourself. The last time you felt comfortable in your own skin.
That is how I want you to feel during this shoot. Truly, authentically, you.
Sound good so far? Read on.
Sessions like this are something I believe are so important. For me, it brings together 3 main things that mean so much to me. Photography, self-love, and emotional wellness. Those two last things sometimes get pushed together, and while they are both incredibly important, they are also very different. I am growing more and more aware of the importance of not only loving myself, but additionally making sure that I am emotionally healthy. I could go on about that for much, much longer, and I likely will in another post, but for now I will leave that topic there.
Of course, I believe that photography can capture something that I think the human eye misses. Sometimes I see a picture of myself and I can't help but think “wow”. I see something while I am looking at that picture, that I didn’t see or feel in that moment. Something that the photograph captured that I didn't have time to see then. Something that I could only see after, looking back.
Here is one of those photos for me:
I look at this photograph and see so much of purely, truly myself here. I am on a beach (one of my favorite places), at my favorite time of day (sunset), and I am laughing (my favorite thing to do). I look at this picture and I don’t think about the great lighting that is going on around me or the composition. I think: “That is me. That is me at my best. That is me.”
Again, I could make a whole blog post on the powers of photography and why I fell in love with it, but I will stop there.
SO, if you have made it to the end of this lengthy blog post, thank you. I really, deeply believe that these sessions are going to be such a wonderful tool to help people see themselves in a new, great light and to re-connect with themselves in such an authentic way.
